Goldin Archive

The Luis Barragan Archive finds its home in vibrant Mexico City, a location befitting the storage, documentation, and exhibition of Barragan's significant works. Ideally situated in a public park and built upon an existing plaza, the archive is designed to integrate seamlessly into the community. This necessitates a building form that gives precedence to preserving the open space of the plaza.

Elevated above the ground and clearly visible to all, The Golden Archive rests on volcanic stone, adopting a tiered or stepped form. At the plaza level, the building's architecture fosters openness and public engagement, gradually transitioning to more private spaces as needed by the archive's functions. The design thoughtfully frames vistas of the park, offering visitors a space to contemplate both the natural surroundings and Barragan's influential body of work.
